Exploring the links between sovereign debt and human rights in Latin America

Between April 18 and 21, the Initiative for Human Rights in Fiscal Policy (co-steered by CESR and 6 Latin American partners) held a workshop on Argentina’s public debt and its relationship to human rights. Specialists, Karina Patricio, Guillermo Wierzba, and Guido Croxatto shared political economy tools with participants from civil society, social movements, academia, and the media.

In 4 sessions, participants were introduced to the different types of sovereign debt, explored the sustainability of Argentina’s debt with the IMF and its relationship with human rights, analyzed the political economy of insolvency, and took a deep dive into the Argentinian case.
